If you aren’t a journalist, you might have missed the fact that thousands of journalists are losing their jobs amid the twin maelstroms of the economic downtown and the loss of newspaper advertisers. Many journalism businesses – including my employer, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch – have asked or ordered employees to take unpaid furloughs, typically one week in length (like mine) but sometimes longer. Journalist George Kelly decided to set his thoughts about all this to music – specifically, to the Peggy Lee tune, “Fever.” Check it out. NOTE: Thanks to colleague and blogger Kurt Greenbaum for pointing this out to me.
